I haven’t posted here for a few months, but it’s that time of year again. Time to get in the garden!
Last year we got a late start due to our wedding and honeymoon, so all we grew were tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, and pumpkin (which failed).
This year, i obviously want more tomatoes, but I’ll try some hybrid varieties in addition to heirloom. Heirloom are far more delicious...

gratification.
We’ve (finally) had some rain and I went to look on the garden this morning. Things are looking green and perky and GOOD. Should have some red tomatoes and maybe some squash by the weekend.
It is so incredible to see something you planted and tended and cared for turn into something you can eat. Really, there is nothing more gratifying than seeing your hard work pay off. i love it :)

aphids. ew.
Came home from a long weekend yesterday and immediately went to check on our garden. Much to my dismay, our aphid population doubled (we sprayed with insecticidal soap last week) on our tomatoes. Grrr…
The soap sort of works, but it isn’t that great and has to be reapplied frequently (it’s also expensive). I don’t want to use chemicals, but want tomatoes! I think...
